Fadl Allāh. The concept of “grace” in the Quran, similarity and contrast with the Bible

Abstract

The question from which this article starts is the word “grace”. Are there in the Qur’an and Islamic tradition one or more concepts to be compared with the theological concept of grace in the Christian theology? The author tries to clarify this question by means of the study on the qur’anic text and Islamic tradition on it.

Résumé

La question à partir de laquelle cet article commence est le mot “grâce”. Y a-t-il dans la tradition coranique et islamique un ou plusieurs concepts à comparer avec le concept théologique chrétien de la grâce ? L’auteur tente de clarifier cette question au moyen de l’étude du texte coranique et de la tradition islamique à ce sujet.

Este artículo comienza con una pregunta acerca del término “gracia”. ¿Existen en el Corán y en la tradición islámica uno o más conceptos que puedan ser comparados con el concepto teológico de “gracia” en la teología cristiana? El autor intenta clarificar esta cuestión mediante el estudio del texto coránico y de la tradición islámica.
