Julio Martinez

Rector, professor of social moral theology, researcher about religious freedom and interreligious dialogue in Europe – Universidad Pontificia Comillas.

Born in 1964 in Vigo, he joined the Society of Jesus in 1982 and was ordained a priest in 1995. He is currently ordinary professor of moral theology at the Faculty of Theology, in which he has taught various subjects over the years. He has also directed seven doctoral theses, and has given courses and conferences in various parts of Europe and America. In Argentina, he was for years a visiting professor at the faculties of Theology and Philosophy of San Miguel, of which Pope Francis was rector.

He holds a doctorate in theology from the Pontifical University of Comillas (2000), a licentiate in theological ethics from the Weston School of Theology, Cambridge, USA (1996) and a licentiate in philosophy from the Pontifical University of Comillas (1989). He was Director of the Chair of Bioethics (2002-2004), Director of the University Institute of Migration Studies (2004-2007) and Vice-Rector for Research, Development and Innovation (2009-2012) of the Pontifical University of Comillas.

Islam : Economy, Society and Politics (Closed)

The team will research about the vision that Islam has on: Economy, Sociology and Political System. The main objective is to achieve a better knowledge of these realities to promote mutual understanding. The team will adopt a multidisciplinary approach. We have therefore selected different researchers with different backgrounds (Economy, Political Science, Sociology, Theology and Law).
