This short biography of Blessed Charles De Foucauld highlights the salient points of his spirituality and pastoral work. The author opens his essay with an in-depth examination of the time and history of the century in which the Blessed lived, and goes on to trace a biographical and mystical profile of him. The fascination that our Blessed still exerts today in the Church and beyond lies in “having proposed a pure return to the Gospel” (from the Introduction). The Work was inspired by the beatification of the martyrs of Algeria on 8 December 2018
