In a recent article on the contribution of the White Fathers to the renewal of Catholic attitudes towards Islam, Re\u0301mi Caucanas rightly notes that their founder\u2019s legacy \u201cwas not without ambiguity\u201d in this regard and that this missionary society\u2019s option for dialogue took place only in the first part of the twentieth century.
