Drawing on the Qur\u2019an and classical legal traditions, he shows how the principles of <em>khil\u0101fah<\/em> (humanity\u2019s trusteeship over creation), <em>m\u012bz\u0101n<\/em> (balance) and <em>i\u1e63l\u0101\u1e25<\/em> (reform) structure a moral vision of sustainability.
