EPISTEMOLOGICAL, METHODOLOGICAL AND ETHICAL APPROACHES AND ISSUES<\/h4>\n\n

Initiated within the framework of the Entretiens Jacques Cartier in 2019, a collaboration between the Centre for the Study of Cultures and Religions of the Catholic University of Lyon (UCLy) and the University of Montreal aims to identify the methods and conceptual and epistemological tools for analysing the discourses, practices and specific developments related to the use of violence in the name of Islam. This meeting on 14 October 2021 at the UCLy (Lyon) will be the third day of public restitution of the group’s work.<\/p>\n\n

Abstract and programme, in French : \n \nC\u2019est dans l\u2019articulation entre recherche, demande \nsociale et exigence de s\u00e9curit\u00e9, depuis la fin des ann\u00e9es 1970, que l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat \ng\u00e9n\u00e9ral s\u2019est consid\u00e9rablement accru pour l\u2019approfondissement des \u00e9tudes et \npour l\u2019am\u00e9lioration des strat\u00e9gies de pr\u00e9vention et d\u2019intervention concern\u00e9es \npar la violence commise au nom des religions (ou plus r\u00e9cemment du nationalisme \nou autres id\u00e9ologies), et en particulier au nom de l\u2019islam et de son lien avec \nla mouvance islamiste. Dans la litt\u00e9rature acad\u00e9mique ainsi que dans les \ninvestigations empiriques, l\u2019accent est souvent mis sur les personnes ou sur \nles groupes qui ex\u00e9cutent des actes de violence.<\/p>\n\n

\u00c0 ce niveau, la litt\u00e9rature et l\u2019expertise empirique nous montrent un fort accroissement des approches processuelles. Celles-ci envisageant l\u2019engagement dans une violence comme le r\u00e9sultat d\u2019un processus de socialisation graduel, multidimensionnel et non t\u00e9l\u00e9ologique. Aussi, de nouvelles approches s\u2019int\u00e9ressent principalement aux id\u00e9ologies islamistes radicales et de leurs agents th\u00e9oriques. Ceux-ci, \u00e0 l\u2019encontre des personnes impliqu\u00e9es directement dans la violence, repr\u00e9sentent le dernier (ou selon la perspective, le premier) maillon de la cha\u00eene de la radicalisation, \u00e9tant souvent en amont de cette cha\u00eene menant \u00e0 la violence, en la l\u00e9gitimant conceptuellement<\/p>\n\n
