In partnership with Trends for Research & Advisory in Abu Dhabi, from February 4 to 6, the 4th PLURIEL congress was held. Centered on “Islam and Fraternity: Impact and Perspectives of the Document on Human Fraternity,” the event brought together 44 speakers from around thirty universities worldwide, along with a hundred participants. Around thirty students from various institutions and universities were able to join the Congress thanks to scholarships funded by PLURIEL and the Anawati Chair. The diversity of presentations and the relevance of the analyses underscored our platform’s commitment to a broad reflection on themes such as human fraternity in the contemporary context.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
This meeting in Abu Dhabi represents a significant turning point for PLURIEL. Beyond academic exchanges, it was a true intersection of ideas, promoting a convergence of deep reflections that question how Islam, through the prism of the Document on Human Fraternity, builds bonds of fraternity with the other.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The two and a half days of the congress were marked by lively debates, enriched by the diversity of perspectives and the richness of the disciplines represented. Each session, panel, or roundtable contributed to building a collective reflection on the challenges and opportunities that human fraternity represents in the context of Islam.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The 4th PLURIEL congress in Abu Dhabi not only strengthened the ties between researchers and speakers from diverse backgrounds but also reaffirmed our platform’s commitment to promoting constructive academic dialogue on an international scale. The impact of the Document on Human Fraternity was examined in all its aspects, opening new perspectives and concrete action paths for the future.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The success of this congress, following the one organized in Beirut in May 2022 on “Islam and Alterity,” is underscored by the message from Pope Francis sent to PLURIEL members. This message illustrates our network’s ability to initiate fruitful dialogues and stimulate critical reflections on the issues of human fraternity in our time.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
