Rome<\/strong> – For the first time in its history, the Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies (PISAI) is pleased to welcome a university chair entitled “Mediterranean, Religions and Societies”. A call for applications is open.<\/p>\n\n

The aim of the chair is to bring together universities and research institutes from the northern and southern shores of the Mediterranean to address crucial current issues for the future of the common sea, based on the relationship between religions and societies, drawing on the broadest possible range of humanities and social sciences from an academic and non-denominational perspective. This mainly French-speaking chair will be hosted by the Institut fran\u00e7ais Centre Saint-Louis and will aim to promote intellectual dialogue between the two shores in the service of peace. It will reinforce the scientific legitimacy of PISAI, widely recognized in the field of the Arabic language and Islamic sciences, from a Mediterranean perspective.<\/p>\n\n

The first holder of the chair will be chosen by the Scientific Council and will take up their duties on September 1st, 2025.<\/p>\n\n
