The symposium is co-convened by <a href=\"https:\/\/pluriel.fuce.eu\/en\/chercheur\/saleh-wael\/?lang=en\"><strong>Wael Saleh<\/strong><\/a> (Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, UQAM, and TRENDS Research &amp; Advisory) and <a href=\"https:\/\/pluriel.fuce.eu\/en\/chercheur\/brodeur-patrice\/?lang=en\"><strong>Patrice Brodeur<\/strong><\/a> (Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al, UdeM), bringing together scholars from both shores of the Mediterranean and from across the Arab world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The production of knowledge on the Arab world is shaped by a web of profound tensions: linguistic, epistemological, disciplinary, institutional and ideological. These tensions reveal genuine conflicts of knowledge, where competing narratives confront one another between local intellectual heritages and dominant Western theoretical frameworks, between languages of production (Arabic, French, English) embedded in differentiated hierarchies of legitimacy, and between aspirations to scientific autonomy and structural dependence on external funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The symposium sets out to examine how these conflicts shape, fragment or reconfigure academic narratives about the Arab world.
