Its theme was &#8220;The Role of Linguistics and Literary Analysis in Reading the Sacred Text&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conference explored the application of modern linguistics to the interpretation of the sacred texts of Christianity and Islam, and the ways in which linguistic approaches intersect with theological interpretation, with a view to encouraging interreligious dialogue through academic exchange and fostering joint publications. It brought together Muslim and Christian scholars from Germany, France and several regions of Lebanon, while a speaker from Iraq took part by videoconference. Some fifty people attended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The opening addresses were given by Fr <a href=\"https:\/\/pluriel.fuce.eu\/en\/chercheur\/salim-daccache\/\"><strong>Salim Daccache<\/strong><\/a>, on behalf of the Rector of USJ, Fr Fran\u00e7ois Bo\u00ebdec, by the Dean of the Faculty of Religious Sciences, Lina Iskandar Hawat, and by the General Secretary of the Bible Society, Mike Bassous. The first session, devoted to modern linguistics and literary analysis in the interpretation of the Qur&#8217;an and the Bible, was chaired by <a href=\"https:\/\/pluriel.fuce.eu\/en\/chercheur\/talhouk-roula\/\"><strong>Roula Talhouk<\/strong><\/a>, director of the Institute of Islamic-Christian Studies at USJ. Fr Sami Nehm\u00e9, who holds a doctorate from the Catholic University of Lyon, spoke on the interpretation of the biblical text.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First held in 2020, the conference publishes its proceedings after each edition. Those of the fifth conference (22 February 2025), &#8220;The Role of Contextualization and Contemporarization in Reading the Sacred Text&#8221;, were distributed to participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first session, in Arabic, can be watched on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/fsr.usj\/videos\/1415122933932344\/\"><strong>Facebook page of the Faculty of Religious Sciences<\/strong><\/a>.
