On Thursday 12 November 2026, the Network of Centers for Christian-Muslim Relations (NCCMR) is holding a webinar with Father Emmanuel Pisani<\/strong><\/a>, O.P., director of the Dominican Institute for Oriental Studies (IDEO) in Cairo, a specialist in Muslim theology and interreligious dialogue, who received the Muhammad Arkoun Prize in 2014 for his thesis on the thought of al-Ghazali.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since his appointment as head of al-Azhar in March 2010, Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayyeb has delivered many speeches: at diplomatic meetings, before Muslim and Christian bodies, during official visits and at international conferences. Now published, these texts can be read as a whole for the first time. The webinar examines them to see how far they outline a coherent vision of dialogue and social friendship, two themes at the heart of the Document on Human Fraternity<\/em> signed in Abu Dhabi with Pope Francis in February 2019: were they prepared by his earlier speeches, or did they shift after 2019? Finally, it turns to the very notion of social friendship: what does it mean in the Grand Imam’s writings, and what place does it hold in his thought?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
