Religion and temporality intersect in profound ways, shaping individuals, societies, and the course of history. From the cyclical rhythms of ritual and sacred time to the eschatological visions of the future, from historical narratives embedded within religious traditions to contemporary challenges of globalization and rapid change. Through theological approaches to time as progress and narratives of secularization, the interplay of faith and time offers fertile ground for inquiry. Through \u0130nterdisciplinary dialogue and critical reflection, the conference aims to deepen the understanding of intricate connections between religion and temporality, illuminating paths toward a more profound engagement with the complexities of the past as well as in our world today.<\/p>\n
In exploring this theme, we invite researchers to send their proposals, focusing on one of the following or related topics from a comparative perspective:
\n– Religious conceptions of time
\n– God\u2019s relationship to time
\n– Temporality and personhood
\n– Relation between Eternity and time
\n– The impact of philosophical and scientific approaches to time on the theological understanding of temporality
\n– Implications of different conceptions of time for understanding human existence – How do beliefs about the past, present, and future shape religious identities and practices?<\/p>\n
The Conference welcomes proposals from researchers, PhD students, and postdocs. Please send an electronic abstract of your paper (max. 500 words) for review by April 30 to kikanovic.kemal@uni bonn.de. Invitations to attend will be sent out by May 10. Accommodation for the speakers will be provided, and limited funding for travel expenses can be granted if no sources of funding are available.
