Already present since the colonisation process, the question of Islam within the French army has reappeared strongly with the settling down of the populations resulting from the great waves of industrial immigration of the Trente Glorieuses. This contribution aims to shed light on the ordinary religious experiences of French military personnel of the Muslim faith. It will analyse the discursive repertoire and the resources mobilised by the actors to justify the plurality of their belonging and to understand how these soldiers live their religious otherness within an institution with a strong Catholic identity heritage. The paper will highlight the potential tensions that religious diversity can generate (discrimination, racism, etc.), especially in the current context of the rise of the domestic enemy (radicalisation, etc.).<\/p>\n
