He demonstrates how this document, with its unprecedented style, extends and renews the Catholic perspective on Islam by making fraternity a new paradigm. Beyond theological debates, a climate of friendship and mutual trust is primarily emphasized. As a theologian, Jean-Jacques P\u00e9renn\u00e8s sees this as an invitation for Christians to discern God&#8217;s action in the faith of Muslims, a faith that contains a part of mystery still eluding them. Listening to the spiritual journey of the other can help one grow in one&#8217;s own religious tradition.
