Religioni in Asia. Uno sguardo contestuale
This volume gathers the contributions from the forums organised by the Gregorian Centre for Interreligious Studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University on the religions of Asia, considered in their singularity and in relation to the Christian faith.
On the ground of Islam, two contributions stand out : Viviana Schiavo devotes her study to the Jamāʿat al-Tablīgh, a Sunni missionary movement born in India and now established from Bangladesh to Italy; Constance Arminjon addresses « Liberty and refoundation of theology in Shi’ite Islam », a valuable landmark for understanding the intellectual transformations of contemporary Iranian Islam.
The other chapters open the comparison to Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Confucianism and Taoism, with rereadings by Marco Vannini, Tiziano Tosolini, Vincenzo Ruggieri, Giulio Osto, Tiziana Lorenzetti, Julia Hegewald, Antonino Drago, Marco Dal Corso, Amina Crisma, Giuseppe Cognetti, Fabrice Blée. The volume concludes with the Hindi translation (by Linus Kujur, SJ) of the Document on Human Fraternity, a testimony to its concrete reception in South Asia.
Religioni in Asia. Uno sguardo contestuale, edited by Laurent Basanese and Paolo Trianni, Gregorian & Biblical Press, Interreligious and Intercultural Investigations no. 13, 2021, 240 p.
