The Abu Dhabi Congress in the International Media

“The CEO of TRENDS Research and Advisory, Mohamed Abdallah Al Ali, praised the efforts of the conference participants and stressed the importance of continuing to work toward its message. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak and to His Holiness Pope Francis, head of the Catholic Church, to His Eminence Cardinal Miguel Ayuso, to the Muslim Council of Elders, and to all those who supported the conference.” > Read more

“The Abu Dhabi Fraternity will not eliminate the evil that remains conditioned by human freedom. It legitimises wisdoms and religions in their task of educating people in fraternity as a going-beyond of any intercultural dialogue. In this way, it paves the way for a balanced political order, grounded in integral humanism, that puts heaven and earth in dialogue and that it is up to human beings to build — far from any historical optimism or utopian desire to bring history to an end. The road is still long, very long.” Antoine Courban > Read more

“Another message from the Pope was read by the cardinal to the participants of the 4th international congress of the University Platform for Research on Islam (Pluriel), held in the capital of the Emirates from 4 to 7. In this message, Francis recalled that there is no peace without knowledge and listening to the other.”
L’Osservatore Romano, 9 February 2024

“Sultan Al-Ali and Hamad Al-Hosani, researchers at Trends, explained that the Document on Human Fraternity states that ‘pluralism and diversity of religion, colour, sex, race and language are the wisdom of a divine will, on which God created human beings, and made it a fixed asset from which the rights to freedom of belief and freedom of difference emerged’. The criminalisation of compelling people to adopt a specific religion or culture, or of imposing a civilised style, is not to be accepted by the other.” > Read more

“With more than 57 speakers from 40 universities and research institutes across four continents, the gathering aims to assess the reception of this historic document and to explore the changes needed to promote global human fraternity in social, political, and theological contexts.” > Read more

“The discussions were very lively and stimulating around the different perceptions of the Document on Human Fraternity in Christian churches and Muslim communities.” Dirk Ansorge > Read more

“In 2019, the document itself was a prophetic cry: to speak of ‘human fraternity‘ in those terms, in a document jointly signed by the head of the Catholic Church and the Grand Imam of al-Azhar, with an inclusive ‘we’, was an event. It had never happened before.” > Read the interview

> Lire l’entretien
