Baptiste Brodard
Born in 1986, Baptiste Brodard is currently a lecturer-researcher in Islamic Studies at Aix-Marseille University. He holds a PhD in Social Sciences and Religious Studies from the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) with a thesis titled “Muslim Social Action in Switzerland: Between Community Interests and Contribution to the Common Good”, and a master’s degree in Social Sciences. He has worked in the fields of social action and development, notably as a social worker in prison and as a project manager for the United Nations in Algeria. His research focuses on Muslim social action in Europe and contemporary Islam in Latin America. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Universidad Veracruzana in Mexico and an assistant professor of sociology at the International Islamic University Malaysia. At the same time, he has traveled to around forty countries to meet with Muslim communities. He is the author of several books, including “Muslim Social Action in Europe” (2023) and “‘Indigenous’ Islam in Latin America” (2023), as well as numerous scientific articles on these themes.
