Jean-Claude Angoula
Jean-Claude Angoula is a priest of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (Spiritans). After some twenty years of mission in Senegal, he now teaches at the Theologicum, the Faculty of Theology of the Institut Catholique de Paris, and directs the journal Spiritus.
Holding a doctorate in theology from the Catholic University of Lyon (thesis supervised by Michel Younès, 2021) and a doctorate in sociology from Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis (Senegal), he formerly directed the Saint Augustine Centre in Dakar. His research focuses on Christian-Muslim dialogue, the connection between intra-ecclesial and interreligious dialogue, and the role of “interlocutors,” drawing on the Senegalese context.
He took part in Pluriel’s research group on religious fundamentalisms. His book Théologie du dialogue islamo-chrétien. Rôle des interlocuteurs dans l’exemple du Sénégal (Karthala, 2024), based on his thesis, is featured on the site.
