Piercamillo Falivene

Piercamillo Falivene

Piercamillo Falivene is a doctoral researcher at the Italian national doctoral school in religious studies (DREST), in the “Law and Religion” track, affiliated with the Department of Law of the University of Perugia. His research examines the divergences between the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox Church over human rights and religious nationalism, drawing on fieldwork in the Orthodox jurisdictions of Italy.

He holds a master’s degree in religious studies from the universities of Padua and Ca’ Foscari of Venice, with a dissertation on the ecumenical relations between Pope Francis and Patriarch Bartholomew I, and spent a research stay at the Faculty of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

He took part in the summer school “Citizenship and Religious Pluralism” organised in July 2025 by the Anawati Chair at the Dominican Institute for Oriental Studies (IDEO, Cairo), and is a member of the Pluriel-affiliated “Citizenship and Religious Pluralism” research group that emerged from that gathering.
