Thom Sicking
Born in the Netherlands in 1940, Thom Sicking, SJ, is a member of the Centre for Research in Religious Sciences (CRSR) of the Faculty of Religious Sciences at Saint Joseph University in Beirut (USJ). A doctor of sociology, he previously directed the Centre for the Study and Interpretation of the Religious Fact (CEDIFR), now integrated into the CRSR, and was Dean of the Faculty of Religious Sciences. He is a member of the editorial board of the journal Proche-Orient Chrétien.
His research focuses on the sociology and anthropology of religion. His current work is entitled « The ambiguity of the religious phenomenon in the Near East », a subject to which he is devoting a book in preparation.
