The Politics of Secularism in International Relations
A now-classic work drawn from her doctoral research, The Politics of Secularism in International Relations by Elizabeth Shakman Hurd (Princeton University Press, 2008, 232 pp.) argues that secularism, far from being a neutral framework, deeply shapes both the theory and practice of international relations. Hurd examines political Islam, Turkey’s relationship with Europe and the Iranian case, showing how secularist assumptions frame Western perceptions of the Muslim world.
The Politics of Secularism in International Relations
