Michele Esposti Ongaro
Michele Esposti Ongaro, with a dual background in history and philosophy, holds a doctorate and teaches history, ethics and philosophy at the European School of Varese. His early work dealt with the history of philosophy; since 2014 he has turned to contemporary history.
A historian of the Middle East, he was an adjunct professor of Middle Eastern history at the University of Insubria (2020-2022) and taught at the American University of the Middle East (Kuwait), where he worked in particular on the history of the Gulf.
His research focuses on the teaching of history and censorship in the Gulf region, on the mechanisms by which radicalism is justified, and on the strategies for manipulating history in textbooks and political discourse. He has published “History teaching and reorientation of history in Kuwait” (Annali di scienze religiose, Brepols) and “La didattica della storia nei paesi del Golfo” in the volume Muslim Students at School (ed. Antonio Cuciniello and Stefano Pasta).
