Anne-Sophie Vivier-Muresan
Born in France in 1977, Anne-Sophie Vivier-Muresan is a theologian and anthropologist and, since 2023, dean of the Theologicum, the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies of the Institut Catholique de Paris (ICP). The first woman and first layperson to hold this office, she is a professor there and directed the Higher Institute for Ecumenical Studies (ISEO) from 2020 to 2023.
Holding doctorates in social anthropology and ethnology (EHESS, 2004) and in Catholic theology (ICP, 2019), she received the Jean et Maurice de Pange Prize in 2020 for her thesis “The dialogue of Trinitarian love: perspectives opened by Dumitru Stăniloae.” A specialist in dogmatic and Trinitarian theology, she also works on contemporary Orthodox theology and the theology of religions.
Her research in religious anthropology focuses on Shiism and the Eastern Christian communities. Among Islam-related topics, she takes an interest in contemporary currents of Islam, Islam in France, and Christian-Muslim dialogue. She notably co-edited, with Henri de La Hougue, the collective volume À l’écoute de l’autre. Penser l’altérité au cœur du dialogue interreligieux (Desclée de Brouwer, Paris, 2015).
