ʿAbd al-Mutaʿāl al-Ṣaʿīdī (1894-1971): A Defence of Religious Freedom
Published in 2024 in the collective volume Théologies musulmanes du pluralisme religieux (ed. Emmanuel Pisani, Éditions du Cerf, proceedings of the ISTR symposium of 20-21 November 2021, pp. 65-88), this chapter by Youssouf T. Sangaré presents the thought of ʿAbd al-Mutaʿāl al-Ṣaʿīdī (1894-1971), a reformist figure associated with al-Azhar.
Through the work of this Egyptian thinker, the author brings to light a reasoned defence of religious freedom within the contemporary Muslim tradition, in the broader framework of Muslim theologies of religious pluralism.

Emmanuel Pisani, Éditions du Cerf, actes du colloque de l’ISTR des 20-21 novembre 2021, p. 65-88), ce chapitre de Youssouf T. Sangaré présente la pensée de ʿAbd al-Mutaʿāl al-Ṣaʿīdī (1894-1971), figure réformiste liée à al-Azhar.
À travers l’œuvre de ce penseur égyptien, l’auteur met en lumière une défense argumentée de la liberté religieuse au sein de la tradition musulmane contemporaine, dans le cadre plus large des théologies musulmanes du pluralisme religieux.
