“The word of God and the language of men” rewarded

P. Tobias SPECKER S.J., holder of the chair of Catholic theology in the light of Islam at the Jesuit Faculty of Philosophy and Theology “Sankt Georgen” in Frankfurt, is the first winner of the “Hans Waldenfels Prize” for contextual theology and missiology.

He received the theological science prize for his habilitation thesis “The Word of God and the language of men”. Christian theology of revelation in conversation with Islamic positions on the inimitability of the Koran”, which he submitted to the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) in autumn 2019. “

This habilitation thesis is an “opus magnum” on questions of revelation from a Christian and Islamic perspective, which will also significantly influence future research on this subject”, stressed Professor Mariano Delgado, President of the International Jury of the Prize.

P. Tobias SPECKER S.J., titulaire de la chaire de théologie catholique à la lumière de l’Islam de la Faculté jésuite de philosophie et théologie “Sankt Georgen” de Francfort, est le premier lauréat du “Prix Hans Waldenfels” de théologie et missiologie contextuelles.

Il a reçu le prix de la science théologique pour sa thèse d’habilitation “La Parole de Dieu et le langage des hommes”. La théologie chrétienne de la révélation en conversation avec les positions islamiques sur l’inimitabilité du Coran”, qu’il a soumise à l’Université de Fribourg (Suisse) en automne 2019. “

Cette thèse d’habilitation est un “opus magnum” sur les questions de la révélation dans une perspective chrétienne et islamique, qui influencera aussi considérablement les futures recherches sur ce sujet”, a souligné le professeur Mariano Delgado, président du jury international du prix.
