Constance Arminjon

At the École pratique des hautes études (EPHE-PSL, Paris), Constance Arminjon was first lecturer in Contemporary Islam from 2012 to 2022. Since autumn 2022, she has been director of studies in the Intellectual History of Contemporary Shi’a Islam. Her teaching and research focus on the evolution of doctrines and currents of thought in contemporary Islam. She is interested in several aspects of Shi’a religious and political modernity: the renewal of the intellectual landscape since the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the evolution of theories and practices of authority in the regions of the Shi’a world, and the renewal of Islamic law. She also studies the history of Sunni and Shi’ite currents of thought in a comparative perspective.
