Mohamed-Ali Adraoui
Doctor of political science from Sciences Po Paris since 2011 after a doctoral thesis on contemporary Salafism, and holding a Habilitation to Direct Research, Mohamed-Ali Adraoui is a professor (agrégé de science politique) at Sorbonne Paris Nord University.
His research focuses on the globalisation of Salafism, which he examines at local, national and transnational levels; jihadist mobilisations, Islamist movements and American foreign policy in the Middle East are also central to his most recent work.
He has held several academic positions in different countries: Centre de recherches internationales (CERI) of Sciences Po Paris, European University Institute (Florence), Georgetown University (Washington), University of Oxford, London School of Economics, National University of Singapore, Institut d’études politiques (IEP) de Grenoble, and Scuola Superiore Meridionale (Naples). He has published several books and articles on contemporary Salafism, jihadism and Islamism, including the recent Understanding Salafism (Springer, 2022, “The Sciences Po Series in International Relations and Political Economy”).
