Agata S. Nalborczyk
A Polish national, Agata S. Nalborczyk is a professor at the University of Warsaw, where she heads the Department for European Islam Studies (Faculty of Oriental Studies). An Arabist and a scholar of religious and Islamic studies, she holds a postdoctoral degree (habilitation) in the humanities (religious studies, specialisation in Islamic studies).
Her research focuses on Islam in Europe (Poland, Central and Eastern Europe, Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom), the legal status and history of European Muslim minorities, Polish-Lithuanian Tatars, gender and feminism in Islam, Christian-Muslim relations, the image of Islam in Europe, Islamic religious education and leadership in Islam.
She is a member of the editorial board of the journal Sociology of Religion and of the series Annotated Legal Documents on Islam in Europe (Brill), and secretary general of the Common Council of Catholics and Muslims in Poland.
