Julien Fragnon

Associate researcher Independant

A French national, Julien Fragnon is a researcher in political science and a teacher at Sciences Po Lyon and Lumière Lyon 2 University. A doctor of political science (his 2009 thesis addressed counter-terrorism discourse and the political management of 11 September in France), he is an associate researcher at the Triangle laboratory (UMR 5206) and was an associate researcher at the Institute for Strategic Research of the École militaire (IRSEM), as well as a parliamentary assistant at the Senate.

His work focuses on defence, terrorism and political violence, discourse analysis and public counter-terrorism communication, in particular counter-discourse campaigns against the propaganda of jihadist organisations. He is also interested in political staff, mobilities, local institutions and participatory democracy.
