Mohammed Hashas
Mohammed Hashas [“ḥaṣḥāṣ” حصحاص] is a scholar of Islam, contemporary Islamic thought, contemporary Moroccan thought, and Islamic thought in Europe. He holds a PhD from Luiss University of Rome, where he currently teaches. He is the author of two books: The Idea of European Islam (Routledge, 2019) and Intercultural Geopoetics (Cambridge Scholars, 2017), and has left the edition or co-edition of four volumes: Pluralism in Islamic Contexts (Springer, 2021), Islamic Ethics and the Trusteeship Paradigm (Brill, 2020), Islam, State and Modernity (Palgrave, 2018), and Imams in Western Europe (Amsterdam University Press, 2018). He is currently also a Research Fellow affiliate to Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO) in Berlin. Hashas was previously a Research Fellow in Oxford, Copenhagen, Berlin, Tilburg, Palermo, and a non-Resident Research Fellow in Wenchester, Virginia.
His research areas are: Contemporary Arab-Islamic thought (philosophy and theology), Islam in Europe, European Islam, and Contemporary Moroccan Thought. Hashas is currently editing the first comprehensive volume on Contemporary Moroccan Thought. His essays are reproduced at his personal website at www.mohammedhashas.com
