Ignace Ndongala Maduku
Ignace Ndongala Maduku is an associate professor at the Institute of Religious Studies of the University of Montreal (UdeM). Originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, he holds a doctorate in religious studies from the UdeM. Before joining the University of Montreal, he taught for some fifteen years at the Lumen Vitae International Training Centre in Belgium.
His research concerns decolonial approaches in theology and religious studies, Christianity, rites and symbols, the decolonisation of theological knowledge, the sociopolitical discourse of African churches, priestly masculinities and sexual abuse in the clergy. He coordinates the activities of the Group of African and Afro-descendant Theologies (Canada) and those of the Research and Study Centre for Religion, Development and Culture, in the DR Congo.
He has published Religion et politique en RD Congo (Karthala, 2016) and Pour des Églises régionales en Afrique (Karthala, 1999). He is a member of the “Christian Theology and Dialogues” group of the Master’s programme of the Al Mowafaqa Ecumenical Institute of Theology (IOTAM, Rabat).
