Martina Kraml
Born in 1956 in Austria, Martina Kraml is professor emerita of catechetics, religious education and religious didactics at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Innsbruck (Austria). Appointed full professor in 2017, she delivered her farewell lecture in June 2023; she remains active as a professor for specific tasks and sits on the university’s Senate (2024-2025).
After an initial career as a teacher in primary and secondary schools in Vorarlberg (1976-1990), she studied religious education and Christian philosophy at the Faculty of Theology in Innsbruck (1979-1986). She completed a doctorate in catechetics and religious education (2001) and a habilitation in 2013, becoming associate professor the same year.
Her work focuses on interreligious religious education and didactics, communicative theology and qualitative empirical research. Together with the Muslim theologian Zekirija Sejdini, she developed a pioneering Muslim-Christian religious pedagogy in Innsbruck and co-edits the series Studien zur interreligiösen Religionspädagogik (Kohlhammer).
