Nasser Michaëlene-Gabryel
Born in France in 1971, Nasser Michaëlene-Gabryel (whose work also appears under the name Nasser Suleiman Gabryel) holds a doctorate in political science (Institut d’études politiques) and an accreditation to supervise research (HDR) in historical sociology. He is the founder of Saint Louis Université méditerranéenne des nations (Saint Louis Mediterranean University of Nations) and director of multidisciplinary research at the LAHRA-INTELEN laboratory.
He was previously director of scientific research at the Institut Montpensier (2018-2024), professor of international relations at HEC (2023-2024) and associate professor at the University of Casablanca (2022-2024). An associate researcher and lecturer at the Institut Catholique de Paris (2013-2019), he was also an associate researcher at the GRET of the University of Rabat and the GERM of the University of Marrakesh (2003-2019).
Holding a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Geneva (2007) and a postgraduate diploma (DESS) in social sciences from the EHESS, his specialities are political science, historical sociology, political anthropology and the sociology of culture. His research focuses in particular on liberalism, Islam and Arab societies.
