Itinerant Prophets

The International Colloquium « Itinerant Prophets – Rewritings, Appropriations and Metamorphoses of Prophetic Figures in the Religious, Literary and Historiographical Texts of Pre-modern Islam » will take place in Paris from 16 to 18 September 2021.

It is organized by Pr. Medhi Azaiez (UC Louvain), Dr. Remy Gareil (Lyon 2 University – UMR 5648 CIHAM) and Pr. Iyas Hassan (Sorbonne University – UMR 8167 Orient & Méditerranée).

Du 16 au 18 septembre 2021 aura lieu à Paris le colloque international « Les prophètes itinérants – Réécritures, appropriations et métamorphoses des figures prophétiques dans les textes religieux, littéraires et historiographiques de l’Islam prémoderne ».

Colloque organisé par Mehdi Azaiez (UC Louvain), Rémy Gareil (Université Lyon 2 -UMR 5648 CIHAM) et Iyas Hassan (Sorbonne Université –UMR 8167 Orient & Méditerranée)

Réunissant des spécialistes d’études islamologiques, littéraires et historiques, « Les prophètes itinérants » vise à jeter une lumière nouvelle sur la place qu’occupent les prophètes dans les différents champs des savoirs arabes prémodernes. Du Coran aux histoires universelles, du hadith aux miroirs des princes et du qaṣaṣ al-anbiyāʾ aux romans de chevalerie, les travaux contribueront au décloisonnement des études sur les sources de l’islam prémoderne tout en explorant les fonctions que remplit la figure prophétique et les transformations qu’elle subit dans chaque contexte abordé.
