PISAI – international conference “Raḥma. Muslim and Christian Studies in Mercy” (October 13-15, 2016)

The conference begins on Thursday 13th October at 17h00 with opening greetings from Cardinal Giuseppe Versaldi, Prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education, Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, and the President of PISAI, Prof. Valentino Cottini. It will then proceed with the first major interventions, of Cardinal Walter Kasper and of Prof. Mouhanad Khorchide, Zentrum für Islamische Theologie, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, on the topic: What is Mercy? A Christian and a Muslim Response. The evening will continue with a musical interlude from the Beyond Borders Ensemble, directed by Maestro Mehdi Elias Baba-Ameur, ‘Dialogo tra musiche ottomane, arabo-andaluse, sefardite e armene’ (Dialogue between Ottoman, Andalusian, Sephardic and Armenian music) and will conclude with an evening meal offered to all the participants.

Friday and Saturday will offer an intensive program of workshops, with the participation of professors and experts, Christians and Muslims, coming from European and American universities. Entrance to these workshops is reserved to registered participants.
