Relations with Islam: Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot has passed away

Official. Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, passed away on November 25, 2024, at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome at the age of 72, the Dicastery announced at the Vatican. He had represented Pope Francis at the last Pluriel congress in Abu Dhabi in February 2024, delivering a message of encouragement to the participants.

Miguel Ayuso Guixot was recognized as a prominent expert on Islam at the Vatican, playing a key role in promoting interreligious dialogue, particularly between Christianity and Islam. He had been appointed as prefect of the dicastery in 2019, where he worked to strengthen relations between different religious denominations. His contribution to interreligious dialogue was hailed as essential for fostering better understanding and cooperation among religions.

Le cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, préfet du Dicastère pour le dialogue interreligieux, est décédé le 25 novembre 2024 à l’hôpital Gemelli à Rome, à l’âge de 72 ans, a annoncé le Dicastère au Vatican. Il avait représenté le Pape François lors du dernier congrès de Pluriel à Abu Dhabi en février 2024, adressant un message d’encouragement aux participants.

Miguel Ayuso Guixot était reconnu comme un spécialiste éminent de l’islam au Vatican, jouant un rôle clé dans la promotion du dialogue interreligieux, notamment entre le christianisme et l’islam. Il avait été nommé préfet du dicastère en 2019, où il a œuvré pour renforcer les relations entre différentes confessions religieuses. Sa contribution au dialogue interreligieux a été saluée comme essentielle pour favoriser une meilleure compréhension et coopération entre les religions.



رسمي. أعلن مجمع الفاتيكان للحوار بين الأديان وفاة الكاردينال ميغيل أنخيل أيوسو غيشو، رئيس المجمع، في 25 نوفمبر 2024 في مستشفى جيميلي بروما عن عمر 72 عاماً. وكان قد مثّل البابا فرنسيس في المؤتمر الأخير لـمنصة الجامعة للبحث عن الإسلام في أبوظبي في فبراير 2024، حيث وجه رسالة تشجيع للمشاركين.

في الوسط، الكاردينال أيوسو، محاطاً بلوران بازانيز وميشيل يونس، منسق منصة الجامعة للبحث عن الإسلام، في 4 فبراير 2024 في أبو ظبي.

كان ميغيل أيوسو غيشو معروفاً كأحد أبرز المتخصصين في الإسلام في الفاتيكان، حيث لعب دوراً محورياً في تعزيز الحوار بين الأديان، وخاصة بين المسيحية والإسلام. وقد عُيّن رئيساً للمجمع الفاتيكاني في عام 2019، حيث عمل على توطيد العلاقات بين مختلف الطوائف الدينية. وقد حظيت مساهمته في الحوار بين الأديان بتقدير كبير لكونها أساسية في تعزيز التفاهم والتعاون بين الأديان.

Il cardinale Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, prefetto del Dicastero per il dialogo interreligioso, è deceduto il 25 novembre 2024 all’ospedale Gemelli a Roma, all’età di 72 anni, ha annunciato il Dicastero in Vaticano. Aveva rappresentato Papa Francesco durante l’ultimo congresso di Pluriel ad Abu Dhabi nel febbraio 2024, rivolgendo un messaggio di incoraggiamento ai partecipanti.

Miguel Ayuso Guixot era riconosciuto come un eminente specialista dell’Islam in Vaticano, svolgendo un ruolo chiave nella promozione del dialogo interreligioso, in particolare tra cristianesimo e Islam. Era stato nominato prefetto del dicastero nel 2019, dove ha lavorato per rafforzare le relazioni tra diverse confessioni religiose. Il suo contributo al dialogo interreligioso è stato elogiato come essenziale per promuovere una migliore comprensione e cooperazione tra le religioni.
