A new director for the Dominican Institute for Oriental Studies

Emmanuel Pisani, OP as is the new director of the IDEO. Emmanuel is a specialist in the theological thought of Abū Ḥāmid al-Ġazālī (d. 505/1111), and he is interested in the interactions between Muslims of different currents of Islam as well as between believers of different confessions. He will head the Graduate Institute of Theology and Science of Religions (ISTR) at the Catholic University in Paris until June 2021, when he will move to Cairo. Dennis Halft, OP will then succeed him as Director of MIDEO. During this year, Jean Druel, OP will remain as assistant director.

Le frère Emmanuel Pisani est nommé nouveau directeur de l’Idéo. Spécialiste de la pensée théologique d’Abū Ḥāmid al-Ġazālī (m. 505/1111), il s’intéresse aux interactions entre musulmans de différents courants de l’Islam et entre croyants de différentes confessions. Il dirigera l’Institut supérieur de théologie et de science des religions (ISTR) à l’Institut catholique de Paris jusqu’en juin 2021, date à laquelle il rejoindra le Caire. Le frère Dennis Halft lui succédera alors au poste de directeur du MIDÉO. Le frère Jean Druel sera directeur délégué durant cette année.
