Islamism, a “fundamentalism” in Islam
Often these terms are used by writers with little precision. In journalistic literature they are sometimes used with notable confusion, making them interchangeable. However, each of these terms has its history and scope of meaning and application. In order to focus the study on the reality designated by one of them, Islam, it is necessary to make a brief historical and conceptual review that puts order in the meanings and indicates with some precision the areas of reference for each of them.
