Jad Moufarrej
Jad Moufarrej is a subdeacon of the Maronite Church and a PhD candidate in comparative theology at the Catholic University of Lyon. A researcher in Muslim-Christian studies, his work focuses on the Christian theology of religions and Shia Islam. He also serves as a mission coordinator at the Centre d’Études des Cultures et des Religions (CECR) within the Faculty of Theology at the Catholic University of Lyon.
His doctoral thesis, supervised by Michel Younès, is entitled “La mort rédemptrice en dialogue”, a comparative Christian-Muslim theological study of redemptive death in the thought of Jürgen Moltmann and Murtaḍā Muṭahharī.
He holds bachelor’s degrees in theology from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik and in philosophy from the Lebanese University, as well as master’s degrees in Muslim-Christian relations from Saint Joseph University in Beirut and in dogmatic and comparative theology from the Catholic University of Lyon.
He has worked in the field of interreligious dialogue, notably with the Adyan Foundation in Lebanon, and acts as a consultant for various organisations on projects related to interreligious and intercultural issues, as well as freedom of religion, conscience, and expression from a religious perspective.
