Amir Jajé
Amir Jajé is Iraqi and lives in Cairo. After completing his licentiate in theology at the Babel faculty, he completed a master’s degree in theology at the University of Strasbourg on the theme “The role of women in the Eastern Church” in 2002. He then obtained a master’s degree in the history of religions at the Catholic theological faculty of Strasbourg with a dissertation entitled “The image of the Virgin Mary in Islam”, and in 2010, he defended a doctorate in oriental studies (University of Strasbourg) on “The celebration of Ashura among Iraqi Shiite Muslims”.
He is a member of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue (since 2012) and a founding member of the Iraqi Council for Interreligious Dialogue (in 2013). From 2011 to 2014, Bro Amir was Vicar Provincial of the Arab World for the Dominican Province of France. He has taught at the Faculty of Theology and Philosophy Babel College in Baghdad (2004-2015), at the Catholic Institute of Theology in Baghdad (2011-2015) and at the Dominican University Online (DOMUNI).
He has translated Mahmoud Ayoub’s book Redemptive Suffering in Islām: A Study of the Devotional Aspects of ‘Āshūrā’ in Twelver Shi’ismi, 2013.
