Hermeneutics of Sacred Texts, Religious Plurality and the Promotion of Nonviolence

From Tuesday 19 to Thursday 21 January 2027, the Al Mowafaqa Ecumenical Institute of Theology (Rabat) hosts an academic seminar in comparative hermeneutics of the Qur’an and the Bible. Drawing on a cross-reading of both traditions, it explores how the interpretation of sacred texts can make room for religious plurality and promote nonviolence.

The seminar is led by:

  • Hazem Al Rahmany, postdoctoral researcher at Aix-Marseille University;
  • Adrien Candiard, Dominican friar, researcher in Islamic studies at IDEO (Dominican Institute for Oriental Studies, Cairo).
  • Dates: Tuesday 19 to Thursday 21 January 2027;

Du mardi 19 au jeudi 21 janvier 2027, l’Institut œcuménique de théologie Al Mowafaqa (Rabat) accueille un séminaire académique d’herméneutique comparée du Coran et de la Bible. À partir d’une lecture croisée des deux traditions, il interroge la manière dont l’interprétation des textes sacrés peut accueillir la pluralité religieuse et promouvoir la non-violence.

Le séminaire est animé par :

  • Hazem Al Rahmany, chercheur postdoctoral à Aix-Marseille Université ;
  • Adrien Candiard, dominicain, chercheur en islamologie à l’IDEO (Institut dominicain d’études orientales, Le Caire).

يستضيف معهد الموافقة المسكوني للاهوت في الرباط، من الثلاثاء 19 إلى الخميس 21 يناير/كانون الثاني 2027، حلقة دراسية أكاديمية في التأويل المقارن للقرآن والكتاب المقدّس، إذ تنطلق من قراءة متقاطعة للتقليدين لتتساءل عن السبل التي يمكن بها لتأويل النصوص المقدّسة أن يتّسع للتعدّدية الدينية وأن يعزّز اللاعنف.
