The Nicene Creed and Islam: Debates on the Nizänum in the Qur’anic Surahs

Published in 2025 by Herder (192 pp.), Nizänum und Islam. Debatten des Nizänums in koranischen Suren, edited by Angelika Neuwirth, Dirk Hartwig and Mouhanad Khorchide (a researcher in the Pluriel network), is an interdisciplinary study of the presence of Jewish and Christian liturgical traditions in the Qur’an.

The volume brings to light the liturgical interweavings between the Qur’an, the Jewish haftarah texts and the Nicene Creed (Nizänum), showing how halakhic prescriptions and hymnic elements find an extension in the Qur’anic text.

Nizänum und Islam. Debatten des Nizänums in koranischen Suren
