“Cum aestimatione” : contours of a Christian theology of Islam
Great appreciation (Cum aestimatione) has been characteristic of the dialogue of the Catholic Chruch with Islam since the Second Vatican Council (1962-65). Nevertheless, essentials remain theologically controversial and disjunctive up to today. The time calls to focus on the relatedness of Christianity and Islam and to engage with differentiated specific processes of dialogue. Being aware of the underlying tension of rivalry and closeness and along key Christian-Islamic topics the author will deliver a profound reassessment of Muslim statements of faith from a Christian theological perspective.

La “grande estime” (“Cum aestimatione”) est caractéristique du dialogue de l’Église catholique romaine avec l’islam depuis le Concile Vatican II (1962-1965). Néanmoins, l’essentiel reste théologiquement controversé et porteur de divergences jusqu’à aujourd’hui. L’époque invite à se concentrer sur la relation entre le christianisme et l’islam et à s’engager dans des dialogues différenciés. Conscient de la tension sous-jacente de la rivalité et de la proximité sur des sujets islamo-chrétiens clés, l’auteur apporte une profonde réévaluation des déclarations de foi musulmanes d’un point de vue théologique chrétien.
لقد شكّل التقديير العظيم (Cum aestimatione ) أحد خصائص الحوار بين الكنيسة الكاثوليكية والإسلام منذ المَجمع الفاتيكاني الثاني (1962-1965). إلا أنّ المفاهيم الجوهرية تبقى مثيرة للجدل لاهوتيًا ومنطويةً على انقسامات حتى يومنا هذا. يدعونا هذا العصر إلى التركيز على العلاقة بين المسيحية والإسلام وإلى الانخراط في مسارات حوار محدّدة متباينة. انطلاقاً من إدراك المؤلّفِ للتوتّر الكامن وراء التنافس والتقارب حول الموضوعات المسيحية الإسلامية الرئيسة، سيقدِّمُ إعادة تقييم عميقة للشهادتَين من منظور لاهوتي مسيحي.
