REDESM at the Annual Conference of the European Academy of Religion

On 30 June 2026, as part of the ninth annual conference of the European Academy of Religion (EuARe), held at LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome, the REDESM research centre, a partner institution of Pluriel, hosted the panel “Giappichelli-Routledge Editorial Series: Religion, Law and Economics in the Mediterranean Space.”

The session, held in the Parenzo Aula Magna, marked the anniversary of the Centre’s international book series, which investigates the evolving dynamics of religious freedom across both shores of the Mediterranean. Chaired by Winnifred Sullivan (Indiana University Bloomington), the panel featured several REDESM members: Alessandro Ferrari (Director of REDESM, member of the Pluriel coordination committee), Maria Chiara Giorda (Roma Tre University), Mohammed Jamal (American University in Cairo), and Ilaria Valenzi (La Sapienza University, Pluriel researcher).

The editorial series examined during this panel addresses in particular the legal status of Muslim communities in Europe and the Mediterranean, from a comparative law of religions perspective.
