Youssef Boutahar

Youssef Boutahar is currently an Associate Professor of English and Cultural Studies at ENS (Ecole Normale Supérieure), Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University, Fez. He holds a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree in Cross-Cultural Studies (North African and Middle Eastern Studies) from the same university. While interested in Public Policy, Postcolonial Discourse Analysis, Gender Studies, and Digital Humanities, his current research and writing focus on religious minorities in the post-uprising MENA region in addition to post-9/11 stories of white women hostages in the Middle East. He has contributed as a discussant and a speaker on numerous panels at national and international conferences in Europe and the US, and has recently published a number of articles and book chapters on political Islam, identity politics, Barbary captivity narratives, and white women’s contemporary Muslim captivity memoirs
