Jean Patrick Nkolo Fanga

Born in 1974 in Yaoundé (Cameroon), Jean Patrick Nkolo Fanga has served as Director of the Al Mowafaqa Ecumenical Institute of Theology in Rabat (Morocco) since July 2024 and holds the position of Full Professor of Practical Theology.

At the helm of Al Mowafaqa, he leads a unique institution that trains Christian and Muslim students within an ecumenical and interreligious framework. Long committed to interreligious dialogue, he has contributed to organizing interreligious celebrations as well as awareness-raising sessions for traditional chiefs in the Centre region of Cameroon. As part of his responsibilities within the Council of Protestant Churches of Cameroon, he participated in various activities of ACADIR (Cameroon Association for Religious Dialogue, Yaoundé).

His research focuses on the exercise of pastoral ministry, homiletics, church governance, and conflict resolution. He is also engaged in intercultural dialogue, particularly through his research on the reception of migrants of African origin in France, as well as the search for an African expression of religion through dialogue between exogenous and endogenous religions in Africa.

President of the International Society of Practical Theology (ISPT) from 2018 to 2022, he has authored several landmark works, including Le Pasteur et le management d’une église locale (Langham Publishing, 2021), Le profil du pasteur dans les Églises d’Afrique contemporaine (Presses Bibliques africaines, 2019), and Le processus homilétique (Éditions CLE, 2016).

He holds a PhD in Practical Theology from the Protestant University of Central Africa (Yaoundé, Cameroon, 2011) and has undertaken several postdoctoral research stays in Europe, notably at the Institut protestant de théologie in Montpellier and Paris (France), the Protestant Theological University of Groningen (Netherlands), and the Faculty of Evangelical Theology in Leuven (Belgium). He also served as Rector of the Institut supérieur presbytérien Camille Chazeaud in Foulassi (Cameroon, 2022–2025).
