Nadia Saad

I am a Tunisian research assistant at the Seminary of Islamic Theology at the University of Paderborn (SIT): Quran Studies . I am also a PhD student, a member of the Prophetology research group, and a member of the Center of Comparative Theology at the university of Paderborn (Zekk). I am interested in studying the Quran in its late antique context and my project is about David and Solomon in the Quran. My research areas are: Historical-critical Qur’anic exegesis, Qur’anic theology, Comparative theology, late antique Rabbinic literature and Syriac Christianity.

Theology of Prophecy in Dialogue (Bonn) (closed)

The Qur’anic approach to prophecy challenges Jewish and Christian perspectives for a variety of reasons. The Qur’an seems to have some concrete features of prophets in mind that are not completely coherent with the Biblical tradition. Moreover, it is the selection of prophets within the Qur’an that is idiosyncratic and confusing from Jewish and Christian perspectives. For example, important prophets, such as Isaiah and Jeremiah, do not appear by name in the Qurʾan but Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, considered as patriarchs in the Bible, are named prophets in the Qur´an.
