Noemi Trucco

Born in 1990, Noemi Trucco is a sociologist and researcher at the Swiss Center for Islam and Society (CSIS) at the University of Fribourg. She holds a PhD in sociology obtained in 2023, with a thesis focusing on the “subjectivation” of imams. Her research areas include the sociology of knowledge, discourse analysis, and the study of subjectivation, with a particular interest in Muslims and Islam in Europe, processes of othering and exclusion, social conflicts, and social inequalities. In addition to her research activities at CSIS since 2018, Noemi Trucco teaches at the Department of Social Work, Social Policy, and Global Development at the University of Fribourg. She co-organized the monthly research workshop on sociological discourse analysis (WDA) in 2022-2023 and will co-organize the meetings of the WDA network in the German-speaking area starting from 2024. Her other research interests include political and social processes in Turkey as well as statelessness.
