Claudio Monge

Visiting professor Independant Scientific Committee

Born in 1968 in Italy, Claudio Monge, o.p., is director of the Dominican Study Institute in Istanbul (DoSt-İ), where he has lived since 2004. A member of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) since 1993, he holds a doctorate in fundamental theology (theology of religions) from the University of Strasbourg.

He teaches theology of religions at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) and at the Theological Faculty of Emilia-Romagna (Bologna), and lectures at the Saint Bernardino Ecumenical Institute in Venice. Since September 2025 he has been Regent of Studies of the Dominican Province of Italy. He has been a consultor to the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue since 2014.

His research focuses on sacred hospitality, otherness, religious pluralism, and Turkish Islam. A committed figure in Christian-Muslim dialogue, he seeks to deepen mutual understanding between religions in the light of the paradigm of hospitality.
