José Luis Llaquet de Entrambasaguas
Born in Spain in 1963, José Luis Llaquet de Entrambasaguas has been, since 2013, a tenured professor (Profesor Titular) of State Ecclesiastical Law at Universidad Loyola Andalucía (Seville), within the Department of Law and the research group “Human Rights, Jesuit Tradition and Social Transformation”.
He holds a PhD in Law from the University of Barcelona (2001) and a PhD in Canon Law from the Catholic Institute of Toulouse, and is an honorary doctor of Ovidius University (Constanța, Romania). He is accredited as a professor by ANECA (the Spanish National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation) and as an aggregate professor by AQU (the Catalan University Quality Agency). Before his academic career he practised as a lawyer and served as a substitute magistrate at the Provincial Court of Barcelona and as a judge and notary at the Ecclesiastical Court of Barcelona.
His research focuses on the legal status of Islam in Spain and Catalonia: the organisation and associative networks of Muslim communities, the legal framework of places of worship, Muslim funerary law and cemeteries, and questions of institutional transparency and religious symbols in the workplace. He took part in Pluriel’s 5th International Congress in Córdoba (2026) and in the First International Halal Congress in Córdoba (2015).
